Barbara is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a woman in recovery. She has been clean and sober for 24-years and after embarking on recovery returned to academia and became a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (2003), received her Bachelors of Sociology (2008) and then her Master of Social Work (2011) both at California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB). Barbara became Licensed as a Social Worker in 2015 and brings all of her life experience to her therapeutic approach. 

Barbara has experience working in jails, mental health institutions, community mental health, juvenile hall and private practice. Barbara is an advocate for recovery in both mental health and addiction and utilizes an eclectic approach which includes identifying strengths, encouraging autonomy and self-determination and finding solutions to challenging life issues. Barbara loves to witness individuals getting better and has been known to challenge clients when appropriate. 

Barbara has specialized training and experience in the following areas: Anxiety, Depression/Mood, and Psychotic Disorders ; Individual and Group Therapy ; Drug and Alcohol Treatment ; Suicide Prevention and Safety Planning ; Crisis Intervention/De-escalation and Stabilization; Solution Focused Therapy ; Strength-Based Therapy/Recovery ; Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) ; Psychoeducation
